In this month’s newsletter, I would like to highlight another student who set a goal for himself before starting his candidate workout sessions.
This student attends the Middleton school and his name is Paul Wirtzfeld. Mr. Wirtzfeld set a goal to lose 20 pounds before he started candidate training which anybody who’s been through it can tell you is pretty tough. In case you don’t know what candidate training is, it’s the training period before a student tests for black belt. Mr. Wirtzfeld made this goal for himself a few months ago and has worked extremely hard to achieve it. He started biking more than 30 miles at a time, running every day and changing his entire diet. Not only did Mr. Wirtzfeld reach his goal, he right away set another goal of dropping more weight before his test which is scheduled for October. And yes, you guessed it; he is still biking and running and training harder than ever. When I ask him why he works so hard he says to me, he needs to set a good example for his children and not expect from them what he cannot deliver himself.
Mr. Nelson, a martial arts instructor at Kicks Unlimited, recently returned to the U.S. after serving his country in Iraq. His co-workers at Kicks Unlimited put on a special welcome home party for him on May 30th.
